Meet the Staff: Elizabeth Dalton, M.Ed

Elizabeth holds a M.Ed in Educational Media and Technology from Boston University and is currently working to complete a Ph.D in Education (Curriculum and Instruction) at the University of New Hampshire. Her research focus is on the use of simulations as learning activities and as assessments.

Elizabeth spends most of her time learning and teaching, whether those activities are included in her job description or not. Prior to coming to Granite State College, Elizabeth worked in Education and Support at Sun Microsystems for eleven years, before leaving her last position there as Global Assessment Program Manager to return to academia. She was an instructional designer for Southern New Hampshire University and taught Statistics online, and has held a variety of positions in website design and administration, technical support, writing, and consulting.

Elizabeth earned a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of New Hampshire in 1991, and has an ongoing interest in language learning and teaching. She founded the Derry Chinese School in 2003 and has published a teacher’s guide, Chinese Power Learning Games. She holds a certificate in Game Design from the North American Simulations and Games Association, and develops educational games in what she light-heartedly refers to as her “spare time.”

Elizabeth has lived in Southeast New Hampshire for most of her life. She enjoys reading and writing, assorted hand crafts such as jewelry making, pottery, and glassworking, and tinkering with various gadgets.
