Overview: The Single simple discussion gives the instructor the power to set up the discussion topic and have all participants simply reply directly to that post. Instead of having each student starting a new thread, the participants are given a question to answer with the opportunity to read and reply to their classmates’ responses as well.
The following types of questions would be most appropriate for the single simple discussion format:
- What was the most interesting point in the story?
- What do you believe to be the world-view of this leader?
- How would you approach solving this problem?
Using the single simple discussion format gives the facilitator an opportunity to direct discussion in a certain way while allowing for the sharing of opinions amongst peers.
What students will see
Students will see the text you have placed in the Forum introduction setting as the first post of the discussion. There will be a Reply link below the the post. It is best to use this type of forum if you have only ONE question you want to post.
